What Status do we Have

Our society puts a lot of pressure on us. They want us to "act your age" but at the same time act older then we are or "mature". I still don't understand who makes the decision of what we are supposed to act like. We are allowed to be behind the wheel of a death machine, but not allowed to say what goes into our own bodies. Cars are very dangerous. having the responsibility of driving one that can harm ourselves and others on the streets is a very big responsibility. we can drive when were 15/16 years old, but we can't put certain things into our own body until were 21. just like we are able to leave our families at 18, but we can't be off of our parents insurance until were 25. this infantilizes teenagers/20-25 year-olds. this makes non-teenagers feel like they are until they turn 25 and are really on there own. we are pressured throughout high school to be on top. your rank, your friends anything that can different you, or make you the same as other people. people try so hard to look and act like everyone else so that they can stand out that in the end they just get lost in the crowd because they look like everyone. we realize that who your friends are, what you wore, what classes you took in high school don't matter in the outside world after high school and college.
