crash .racism or just plain mean.

In Crash people were extremely racist. the cop (Matt Dillon) was one of the more racist of the group. The way he took advantage of the two black people in the car on there way home, "searching" the woman for weapons. This racism also shows in Sandra Bullock's character, the way she yelled at her husband to change the locks after they had already been changed. she thought that just because the man fixing the locks was a hispanic he would give their new key's to his "homeboys" and break into their house later and steal everything. she didn't think to realize maybe he has a wife and kids, maybe he has this "not perfect" job because he is trying to support a family. Matt Dillon's character also showed racism by showing that the women on the other end of the phone wasn't able to do her job right just because her name was Shaniqua. these accusations are terrible, they show that even people who have brilliant minds can be completely blind to things around them.

"Asians can't drive", "All people from the middle east are terrorists", and "All white women have maids and don't do anything for themselves", are just a few of the many stereotypes used throughout the movie. Peoples race means a lot, but in the way it is portrayed in this movie it means nothing. when people think of there race they can think of there heritage, where they came from, and who the were. when 9/11 happened people became a lot more racist and that effected a lot of people in the middle east. but people don't realize that not all middle eastern people were in the Taliban. in the movie people felt like they were being punished for things other people did in the country they were from.

Most of the people in this movie are racist, although this may seem to be true in real life i believe that not all people are racist. yes many people are, but some people don't care what the color of someone's skin is or what country they are from. yes accents and color can't be invisible but it can be looked past to see who the person is your talking to, what they believe in and what they like not just the color of there skin. some people do take the time to see what is underneath someone's skin. in the movie i believe that Terrance was not as racist as everyone else. he did try to calm his wife down, he knew what Matt Dillion's character did was wrong but he couldn't do anything about it. and since he is an innocent black man, and worked for his money and wealth and should be treated like a "white man" and he knows it will probably be a long time until he will he needs to just go with the flow of things.

When people look at other people and only see there race instead of the person in front of them it is easier to stereotype that person. like when Sandra Bullock's character is walking with her husband down the street and she sees two black men walking towards her and she grabs on to her husband. she didn't see the men for who they were she just saw them as two black guys walking down the street probably wanting to rob her. people may be from a "race" but they may not be as bad as you think.

I don't think it is a natural thing to be racist. i think we do "learn" how to be racist from our surroundings. like if you were born and raised in Mississippi then your surroundings will most likely be really racist. but if you were born in a small town in washington state then you probably will be less racist then people born in Mississippi.

Kids do by example. If there parents and them are walking down the street and start to pass a couple black men and the man holds her purse closer and the dad holds the mom closer and the children are brought closer to the dad then the children get that black people aren't good people. or if you are watching the news and they are talking about terrorist and your parents start talking bad about middle eastern, the you will believe that too.

Racism will never end. people will always learn about our history and what the blacks did to even get where they are today, and what women did to get rights and what the japanese american's did to show the amercian's that they weren't involved in the attack of pearl harbor. People will always know what they did to get where they are so i don't believe racism will ever end. whether it is good or bad will always be there, as so with it itself.
